Privacy & data protection statement
We keep this simple, because we keep very little. This statement explains what information we handle, why, and what you can ask us to do with it under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who we are
Millers Glen Residents Association (MGRA) is a voluntary, unincorporated residents association for the Millers Glen estate in Swords, Co. Dublin, Ireland. For data protection purposes, MGRA is the data controller for this website.
You can contact us at millersglenresidents@gmail.com.
What we collect
Nothing is required to browse. There are no accounts, no logins and no comment sections on this site.
- If you contact us: our contact form opens your own email app — it does not store anything on this website. When you send that email we receive your name, email address and whatever you choose to include (optionally a phone number or address) in our association mailbox.
- Visit statistics (only with your consent): if you accept the notice shown on your first visit, we record the page visited, the date and time, the site that referred you, a broad device type (mobile, tablet or desktop) and a random identifier stored in your browser so repeat visits aren't double-counted. We do not record your name, your IP address, your precise location, or anything that identifies you personally.
- Volunteering for an event: if you sign up to help at a clean-up, we store the name you give us, your house number if you choose to add it, and how many people you're bringing. This is never shown publicly — only the committee member organising the day can see it, and the whole list is deleted automatically the morning after the event.
- Annual contributions: if you send the €20 household contribution by bank transfer and email us, your bank reference and email sit in our bank records and mailbox. There is no payment processing on this website.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To reply to you — legitimate interest in running a residents association and answering neighbours who get in touch.
- To understand how the site is used — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To keep basic records of contributions — legitimate interest in accounting honestly to residents.
We never sell or rent information, never use it for advertising, and never share it with third parties for marketing.
Cookies and local storage
We use no advertising or tracking cookies. If you accept visit statistics, we store two small items in your browser: your choice about statistics, and a random identifier used only to count repeat visits. If you decline, nothing is stored and nothing is counted.
A single secure cookie is also set if a committee administrator signs in to the private statistics page. It contains no personal data.
How long we keep things
- Visit statistics: anonymous records, reviewed and cleared periodically.
- Event volunteer sign-ups: deleted automatically the morning after the event.
- Emails you send us: kept only as long as needed to deal with your query.
- Contribution records: kept for the association's yearly accounts.
Who can see it
Only committee members who need to. Our website and its visit statistics are hosted on services within the EU/EEA or under equivalent safeguards, and our association email is a standard Gmail mailbox.
Your rights
Under GDPR you can ask us for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to our use of it, or withdraw consent for visit statistics at any time. Email millersglenresidents@gmail.com and we'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
Children
This site isn't aimed at children and we don't knowingly collect any information about them. Photographs from community events are only published with the agreement of those shown — email us and we'll remove any photo promptly.
Changes
If we ever start storing more than the above, we'll update this page first and say so clearly on the site.
